fuck yeah sex education: What You Need To Know About LGBT Divorce

As marriage equality spreads across the nation in fits and starts, LGBT couples are slowly gaining access to the rights and privileges their straight counterparts enjoy, including divorce. But how can spouses get a divorce if they reside in a state that doesn’t recognize their marriage to begin…

I find it really hard to jump on the “yay, gays can now get divorced” train.  I mean..in many cases (as I have said before), states won’t recognize an LGBTQ marriage, but they’ll be glad to recognize it when it comes down to breaking it apart through divorce.

“We don’t want to support your marriage, but we’ll be happy to help you end it”.

…but states that do not grant same-sex marriages also do not grant same-sex divorces (except maryland)
